If you haven’t yet had enough of making gingerbread biscuits, this is a simple way of making cute ornaments. This easy dough is beautiful as is, or can be painted or decorated with glitter, beads or anything else.

I used this recipe:

2 dl baking soda
1 dl corn starch
1,25 dl water

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Boil gently continuously mixing until it thickens – this happens quickly. Let cool, cover with cling film and store in the fridge. Do not roll the dough any thinner than 0,5 cm. Use any stick or straw for making holes. The “cookies” should be dried in a 100 degree oven for about an hour.

The imprints came out better when the twig was pressed gently with the rolling-pin. Since mine came out a bit, ehem, well done, I painted some white, some with silver paint. The photos are taken before the kids were let loose with the paints. No subtle tones there, I can tell you.

We used these for labels for presents but they double up as Christmas tree decorations.
