Slowly but surely hipsters are coming to Chinatown. And for coffee lovers that’s just great. While Old China Cafe is great for atmosphere and Peter Hoe does have nice cakes (And AC. Oh and truckloads of beautiful things), getting a good cup of coffee has been a bit hit and miss in Chinatown. Moontree and Aku have been helping us coffee lovers for a while now, and it looks like there will be no end to this wave of small, lovely coffee shops (check out a great list here).
Last week we had very important errands in Chinatown (baskets, statues of Indian gods and craft supplies, of course) and ended up in Einstein cafe, a small non-pretentious cafe hidden on the second floor of an old shoplot.
Einstein offers a meatless menu – not very common around these piggy-loving parts of town. The sauce in my fish dish was tangy and flavourful and I would have eaten the dish happily without the mock fish, too. Coffee was really nice as were the prices for meals. The atmosphere is very cool, I was not the only one snapping photos.
And how could you leave Chinatown without getting some fresh flowers? This time it was these fifteen-ringgit-lilies.
