This is what’s going on for the family in KL’s art scene this March:

Opera for Kids 2017

You may remember us writing about the kids’ opera production by KL City Opera last year – if you want to gent involved this year, this is the time to sign up! Children from the age of 6 to 11 years old will have the opportunity to perform in a full-scale opera alongside with KLCO’s Company Principal Singers, orchestra ensemble and Kuala Lumpur City Opera Chorus. The 12 week long workshop includes an introduction to the opera world, arts & craft, opera storytelling, characterization, singing and staging.

Date: 25 Feb 2017, 10.00 AM – 12.00 PM
Venue: KL City Opera Studio, 4B Jalan SS20/10 Damansara Kim, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Fee: Complimentary

Information Required: Children details (Name and Age) and details of Parents (Name, Mobile Number and Email address). Seats are limited.

The classes start 4 March 2017 and continue every Saturday, 10.00 AM – 12.00 PM at KL City Opera Studio.
Fees: RM300 per Child. 20% discount for group of 5 or siblings for the first month payable in the first week of the workshop.


The Handlebards, the world’s first cycling theatre company, brings their brilliantly comical version of one of the world’s best-known romantic tragedies to Malaysia! These beautifully British and brazenly bonkers thespians will perform their side-splitting production of Shakespeare’s epic tale of two lovers who’ve everything stacked against them. Expect a fast-paced and irreverent performance, ideal for introducing young audiences to the Bard!

Gardner and Wife Theatre presents, EMILY BROWN AND THE THING –  20 February 2017  to 12 March

If you haven’t managed to get there yet then you still have some time in March, but don’t delay.

Another goody by Cressida Cowell of How to Train your Dragon notoriety.  This is a story about the night time adventures of Emily Brown and her rabbit Stanley, and their plight to help a Thing get to sleep.

This is a musical show for everyone aged 3 years and over.

Shostakovich’s Fifth is the featured work for this performance of the MPYO, but it is not the only work with the concert opening with the Festive Overture by Shostakovich and followed by The Moldau by Smetana.

KL’s Little Detectives – March Holiday Classes – 6th – 10th March 2017

Creativity, perceptiveness and fun is how Alliance Française describes their Little Detective programme.  From decoding messages to creating spy outfits this should not be missed by all budding detectives.
