Jay is Happy Go KL’s Chaimama. She grew up in Taiping and Ipoh, lived in the UK and now calls KL home where she juggles being a mom, consultant and business-owner. As a working mama, she has her hands full juggling the businesses and the needs of her family. She loves the frantic pace but also enjoys all that the region has to offer, especially slowing down and travelling with children in tow.
Kirsi aka Lattemama left behind the cooler Nordic climates six years ago, and her two kids have grown to think of KL as home and regularly end their sentences with “lah”. She loves a good coffee and a book but after juggling work and taxi duties often ends up with a glass of wine and a sitcom instead. She appreciates the generous public holidays of Malaysia and loves to use them for exploring the region with the family.
Hailing from New Zealand, Jilly landed in KL five years ago with her Dutch husband and their two energetic kids. Having lived in the Netherlands and the UK, she now calls Malaysia home – well, until her nomadic Dutchman says it’s time to move on. Coming from a lifetime in sales, marketing and communications the pace and grace of Happy Go KL allows her to talk and write at length about things she loves: family life, food, travel and all things outdoors. She also goes by Hoochiemama.
Caroline was born and bred in a magnificent part of France called Provence. Formerly a secondary school teacher and trainer in the UK and Dubai, she took her passion for photography to the next level after moving to Kuala Lumpur five years ago and launched her business – hence her nickname Photomama. Businesswoman, photographer and mama of two gorgeous girls, she enjoys the following things in no particular order: reading, wine, great food, traveling, exercising, family time, friends time, dancing, making crêpes and passion fruit.
With a Spanish mother and British father, Anna grew up with a mix of languages – hence the name Spanglish Mama. As a fresh-faced 20-year old she first tasted life overseas teaching English in Spain. Many moons later when her husband suggested a move to Shanghai, she said yes! Four countries, six cities, one husband, two children and thirty-something years later, her adventures took her to KL. Anna considers her biggest holiday challenge coaxing her children into any venue with the word museum in the title. After many years in financial PR and marketing, she can’t wait to write about much more exciting topics than savings accounts!
Racheal, aka Kacaumama, is a child & family development specialist by trade but her favorite part is being a mama to the most curious, fiercely independent, joyful little two-year-old foodie - who she hones most of parenting techniques and workshops with.
Occasional writer, researcher, and globetrotter, Cordelia splits her time between slow schooling her kids and wielding a can of mosquito spray as Brienne of Tarth does her sword. Cordelia’s eclectic and oftentimes regrettable past includes eco-innovation, sailing instruction, and restaurant cashier. And someday, her epitaph shall read: Here lies the greatest procrastinator who ever walked this earth. At Happy Go KL Cordelia writes as Multilingual mama.
Melinda, also known as Bubblymama, was born and raised in the Philippines and lived in The Netherlands before moving to KL. She is a writer, marketing executive and entrepreneur. She is passionate about food, enjoys travel, scuba diving and a good bottle of bubbly and loves to snuggle up with a good read.
Antonia and the rest of her Scottish family have been living in KL for four years. With a background in youth work she has a passion for all things humanitarian and cultural and loves immersing herself in Malaysia while being involved in various charities. Her daily life involves the usual duties of cook, cleaner and taxi driver for her two little humans, but she enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, quality time with loved ones and more recently writing about her travels here. Wine should also probably appear on this list, as it is the medicine that makes all of the above possible!
Sun used to rescue gibbons from the markets, rehabilitate and release them to the jungle in Phuket. She now spends her days managing bank accounts of hubby's companies but unfortunately is not very good with her own. MamaSun has three beautiful children, is scared of worms but owns a snake. Never sits still. Not very sociable but friendly enough to be with!
Sneha is a foodie, passionate about healthy eating and vegetarian cooking, hence goes by Healthymama. She left a career in insurance and she started her journey across Asia from New Delhi to Kuala Lumpur in 2012. She started to bake and sell cupcakes and brownies, taught English to children from Myanmar and joined the team at Happy Go KL. She is currently exploring and settling into Singapore.
